The topic of body image is usually associated with teenagers, but it’s becoming an issue for younger children now, too. Media and advertising, toys, and peer pressure are among the many factors that make kids question their appearance and build.

But what’s said and seen at home matters, too. Often parents inadvertently contribute to their child’s body-image issues with their comments or through their own weight issues. A parent’s focus on body image can make a child think his or her value is based solely on appearance. In this month’s edition of the Parent Link we offer several tips for promoting healthy body image in your children. Also be sure to check out what movies, music and video games are being released. Sunday Nights are back with our fun HighPoint travel themes! We want to personally invite your child to join us on Sunday, January 22 at 6pm for HighPoint Russia! The theme of our 5 week trip (2nd/4th Sundays) will be about Truth & Consequnces. Through this series your child will learn that telling the truth is always a much better idea than lying. Your child will discover Bible stories about Jacob and his family as we explore these questions:

1. What is truth?
2. What happens when I lie?
3. Who always tells the truth?
4. What if others have lied to me?
5. How can I make truth a habit?

Over the next 5 weeks we’ll visit Russia where we’ll meet Shamus Snitch, a spy who’s lied so much that he can’t remember the truth. Our point will wrap up the theme in one unforgettablephrase – “I will tell the truth and honor God!”
